We are proud to introduce a line of wheels for your main gear struts. These wheels are machined from billet 6061 aluminum. The diameter is 4 1/2 inches, the width is 1 inch. The weight is 5.3 ounces. The axle bushings are lubricant impregnated. We offer them in three spoke styles, five straight spokes, six straight spokes, and spiral spokes as pictures at right. Pictures of the five and six spoke wheels can be found in the Gallery. Prices listed below are for a single wheel.

The tires are urethane and virtually indestructible.  These are an excellent choice for use on hard surfaces because of their wear qualities and ability to stand up straight rather then roll under in a tight turn. No more digging a wing tip into the asphalt! These tires will slide before they will dig in.

For those who prefer the traditional soft tire we have two new tire / hub combinations  pictured at right, 1st and 2nd pictures down. The diameters are 4.8"  and 4.0", the widths are 1.25" and 1" respectively. The 4.75" wheel weighs  4.7 ounces and the 4.0" wheel weighs 3.2 ounces. The 4" wheels are available for 3/16", 1/4" and 6 mm axles. The 4.8 wheels are available for 1/4"  and 6 mm axles. We recess the rubber tire into the 6061 aluminum CNC machined hub 3/8"  so the tire is very stable on the hub making for dependable ground handling. These are not nearly as durable as our urethane tires but the tire is replaceable. Of course they were designed to integrate onto our titanium axle for a perfect fit.

We are trying to develop some products that cost a little less but offer the same quality and reliability as our top of the line products. Our new main gear wheel is the same diameter and tire compound as our 4.75" diameter top of the line soft tire wheel but is priced at $69.00 a pair, or over 25% less. It retains the same lubricant impregnated Igus bushings and is a perfect fit on out titanium axles. It is a half ounce heavier and does not have sexy spokes but those are some of the things that make the top of the line wheels more expensive. It is pictured at right labeled as the Econo wheel.

The 1/4" titanium axles are designed to provide 3 wheel positions or spacing from the landing gear strut. This should give plenty of flexibility for centering the wheel in the wheel pants. The wheel is retained with "C" clips that snap into grooves machined in the axles. Two 1/4" aluminum spacers and a thin nylon washer are provided with each axle to accommodate the wheel positioning previously described. The end of the axles are drilled and tapped for 6-32 SHCS which can be used to support the outside of the wheel pants while still allowing their easy removal. We are nickel plating the axles for maximum wear resistance.

Brakes - These are for those of you that fly from hard surface runways and have a problem keeping your plane taxiing slow enough for safe operation. They will also shorten the landing roll out. The brakes are on all the time, not controllable with the radio. You manually adjust the amount of drag to suit your particular situation. The brakes are designed to be used with any of our wheels and axles and are a simple bolt on installation. They can be used with other manufacturers axles and wheels with some modification. The weight is less than 1.7 ounces per wheel. If you replace the normal steel axles and plastic/sponge wheels with our wheels and titanium axles you can have the brakes with no additional weight gain.
